Gum Shoe Coon and Detective Johnson

Stephanie and Christel decided today would be the day they find the kittens. They were willing to search high and low and were prepared to jump a fence or two to finally get a glimpse of Peng's little ones.

After Peng came inside to eat we noticed she was needing to nurse so Christel followed her. It was quite the site as Christel was bobbing and weaving around pallets to not let Peng see her.

Right as Peng jumped up top this large pile of boulders customers pulled into the yard. Christel had to get to work, Detective Johnson took over.

And low and behold Stephanie sees two little blue eyes staring up at her.

We have only seen 3 yet as Bill was pulling the kittens out for us to take a good look he thought he felt a 4th.
Everyone at the yard has felt warm and fuzzy today. There is something so wonderful about a baby kitten.

It ain't got no brakes!

After a week of hot and windy weather it was time to pull out our 1964 Chevy firetruck for the 1st time of the season. We use it to water the gravel to keep the dust down. When Michael said he was going to fire up the water truck we knew we would not see him for a couple hours. Once he did get it rolling MaryBeth ran out to get a picture of it and Michael yelled out at her "it ain't got no brakes!"

After a good laugh and some quick brake work the water truck was on it's was to taming the dust and making working out on the yard this time of year as enjoyable as possible.

Hot Rod Girl

This is Stephanie, Bill and MaryBeth's accountant. She keeps all their businesses moving and grooving and in impeccable order. As good as she is at her job at the store she's is even more of a stud with her cars.

Here she is showing off her cars and her wins! 92' Camaro and 02' Camaro

68' Camaro

91' Camaro

In February she entered her 68' in News9 "Coolest Car Contest" and her car kicked all the other car's butts! She was interviewed on the news and was the only local car shown in the car show in March. Very big deal!

Behind red ropes so swanky!

Everyday ALL Day

When you come to the yard we try to always have somethings constant. Such as someone will greet you with a smile and "what can I do for you?" If it is hot; we will offer you a bottle a water. If you will be shopping for awhile we will offer you a ride in the golf cart.

One thing we can guarantee that you will find at Edmond Rock is WIND and lots of it. When we say wind we are not talking gentle gusts that cool you and remind you that you are in Oklahoma. I mean we have push you over, rock movin' wind! And ALL the time!! We are the highest point in Oklahoma County, no buildings around, and are set up on a hill which means we have great views but terrible winds.

Work here one day and you will figure out why we all crowd around one side of a pallet when moving rocks. It is not because we like standing close together it is so we do not get a face full of dirt!

Maybe someday we will figure out a way to win this battle. Until then....dirt in the mouth is just one more constant at the yard!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's a Car?!?

Early Saturday a semi pulled into the yard. We did not think much of it since we get semi truck turn a round's daily. Everyone did joke with each other, over the walkies, about the car which was on the back on the truck. Next thing we know we see Bill and Ray off loading the car off the semi! We move rock not CARS!!

The semi driver pulled in just hoping we are nice people and would off load this car for him. He lucked out because as soon as Bill figured out he was a fellow Canadian he was on the job! At first Bill sent the Case to do the work.

But then he decided Bertha the forklift would take care of this job.

This is not a normal site here at Edmond Rock. We all enjoyed the giggle.

Once the car had all 4 wheels on the ground the driver told us thanks and was on his way. We are still not quite sure what the whole story was but we are always happy to help.

Christel

When you come out to the yard the 1st person you will see is probably Christel. She is Bill and MaryBeth's youngest daughter. Helping customers is her number one priority. There have been a few customers who have giggled when they see her driving the equipment and moving rocks that are as big as she is. When you see her at the yard you don't realize what a girly girl she is out of the work environment.

Driving big pallets around is a lot easier than moving the rock by hand. This is Big Bertha our old lady forklift. She has a shimmy in her backside like no other.

Christel is also pretty good at telling the yard hands what to do. Here she is giving Devin instructions on the wheel loader.

She really likes filling out receipts, that means she has sold something and is bringing in the money.$$$$$$$$$

Sometimes the rock she has to move comes from a pallet that is almost as tall as she is. Try lifting a sixty pound piece of flagstone from chest height. It's no easy feat.

Christel is our number one webmaster! She keeps the website up to date and she is continually making changes to make it interesting.

Peng popped!!

Peng had her kittens last weekend and we are all anxiously waiting for her to bring her little ones out of their hiding place. What Bill was fearing she did......she made a nest in the insulation under the building. We are putting our ears to the floor in the office to listen for the kittens but we have not heard them yet.

All new mommies should be jealous! She already has her figure back!

MaryBeth won the Kitten Pool. But we don't think she can gloat too much since she was two weeks off. Christel had the kittens coming one month from now. Edmond Rock knows building and landscaping not due dates. :)
