Another day.....another crazy mom.

What is with these moms?!

I know we are a rock yard and we have a lot of stone laying around but I guarantee I could find thousands of comfy places around here to call home if I were an animal. So what is with these moms having their babies in the worst places possible! Peng had her babies in a pile of boulders and now this silly bird!!

MaryBeth went to load some pea gravel and came across a Killdeer. Every year they make their nests around the yard. When we come across a nest we build a barrier around it to keep the mom and her eggs safe.

When the mom sees you she acts wounded and leads you away from the eggs.

This is the first time a bird chose a pea gravel pile to call home.

Smart mom because she did not even have to collect sticks and grass to make a nest!

MaryBeth had to move the eggs from on top of the pea gravel. Baby bird eggs and bucket loaders do not mix well. Hopefully, the mom is on top of things and will find her eggs. We took lots of gravel over so hopefully the human smell was blocked.

Up Up and Away!

When you have a gutter to be fixed sure you might go grab a ladder but not if your Bill. If you were Bill you would have your wheel loader lift you up!

careful careful.....

easy does it......

almost there.....

Back safe with two feet on the ground and the gutter is fixed. Mission Accomplished.

And look who was driving all along! It is Bill's grandsons Wyatt and Sutton. Yes they are 3 and 1 and they are already driving the equipment. That is one trusting Pa!

Still Stinky

The poor cat was still stinking up the yard so this little lady was getting a bath. Instead of old school tomato juice we thought we would give something new a try. (probably not new just was new to us)

We used the sludge to bathe Peng and once again she was fearless. I am sure it was terrifying but she still sat very still.

Yes, MaryBeth is wearing welding gloves. We didn't know how ferocious Peng might get when the water first hit her.

Ohhh poor pathetic Peng!! We really aren't sure how she smells because she will not come close to anyone right now. I think the bath was a little much for a once stray cat.

Touch-A-Truck

You ready for the the suspense to be over?!? All those "Pet Rocks" were for Edmond's Touch-A-Truck this past weekend. As the kiddo's came to crawl on our dump truck they got to pick out a rock to take home. One little boy thought we had too many girl rocks. Note taken little guy! Next year we will make sure we have more boy rocks!

This event is awesome. Edmond Rock will be there with at least one of our trucks every year. Bill and Christel had just as much fun walking around checking out the trucks as the kids did! Christel was as excited as a preteen at a Jonas Brothers concert.

There was everything from a race car, to a Fed Ex truck, to a CSI mobile laboratory, all kinds of police vehicles, army trucks, firetrucks, cement truck, even an armored truck!

A helicopter came in for a landing. One little boy, no older than 2, took off running full speed toward the helicopter getting within a couple of feet of the landing zone before his dad snatched him to safety. Now that child was excited!

This is Bill and MaryBeth's grandsons checking out an old cement truck. Even though big trucks and equipmentare old hat for these guys they still could not get to the next truck fast enough!

A real nail biter

Can you guess what Stephanie and Christel are doing?

Why in the world are they cleaning rocks?

Why did they draw faces on 400 rocks?

Okay hold your breath until the next post it will make it more suspenseful.

Disclaimer: We knew we needed to mop. But the floor gets ignored when it is raining out. Sad but true.

Our very own SuperHero

Do not come out to the store anytime soon! Err...wait....that is not right....What I meant to say is.....If you come out to the yard in the next couple of days bring a gas mask! Our sweet little Peng defended her home, she fought a good fight, she showed that skunk who is the boss!!

The mean skunk tried to get under the building where Peng has her little ones at the moment.

As soon as she discovered the intruder she would have pounced with all her might. She forced the nasty pest back out the door he came from. All while her 3 furry kittens watched in awe of their mom and learned what it takes to be a real woman. This lady is little but mighty!

I made up this whole story........I really have no idea what happened. I do know the whole office smells of skunk, Peng was in a tussle last night, the smell is unbearable where the cats are, and Peng has a yellow stain on her coat.

poor kitty. poor us.

Lonely Rocks

These lonely random rocks somehow have lost their way. We grab these wandering rocks from around the yard and toss them into a jumbled pile. Not an attractive site but it gets the job done.

We ignore the mess until someone caves and takes on the not so glamorous job of hauling the rocks around until they find them a home.

Usually it is a not so pretty pallet like this one which lost the rock in the first place. I am assuming this is why we're told to take care of the pallets! Why must the boss always be right?

Day 6 of Rain

Surprisingly, we have had a steady flow of customers through this rain. Thank Heavens!!! We all know not to make any plans after work because we look like drowned rats by the end of the day. Bring on the Sunshine!!

Our trusty Spyder on the delivery truck is on its last life. We are retiring it before something major breaks. Correct the problem before it takes place.

After our new lift came in Michael and Bill had to look over every inch of it. They both are perfectionist and make sure everything around the yard is always up to their standards.

We are on day 6 with rain but like I said in the last blog "The Show Must Go On!" Our new best friend is our rain gear.

Oh rain gear how I love thee, let me count the ways.......
