Every few weeks we make a call into the fire department, collect all wood trash, and then we let the fire do all the work. Notice there is no flammable objects except what we are burning near the burn area. In fact when you think of it a rock yard doesn't have much that will burn anywhere. We are "going green" by not filling the landfill with our trash, saving the environment with each bonfire.
We burn what we can around the yard. Such as "no way to fix it" pallets and yard waste. It is a hot and sometimes dangerous job but no one seems to mind it. In fact Ray is always asking if it is burn day. When he is told to burn he gets a very large grin on his face.
I am sure I-35 drivers crank their necks to see what is going on when they notice a huge fire ball. This is why we call ahead to the fire department to insure no fireman or firewoman's time is wasted. We don't want our controlled fire to take a truck away from a true emergency, and most important we don't want to have a bill from them for coming out to our yard.
Good bye old pallets you were good to us.
